Happy June, guys! June has always been my favorite month, mostly because once upon a time it meant the end of school and start of summer break. And it's my birthday month! Now only one of those two things is relevant, and hardly.
Welcome back to Procrastination Pro-Tips, your Friday morning dose of internet linkage! Since Fridays can be a bit of a drudge, we direct your attention to whatever goodies we can find to help you pass the time. This was a bit of a slow news week - which is actually my way of saying I just got back from vacation, spent a couple of days getting un-sick and begrudgingly started back at work. All of which prevented me from spending much time on the internet. DOESN’T THE INTERNET KNOW IT’S SUPPOSED TO STOP WHEN I’M NOT AROUND?
First off, kindle owners out there should be sure to check out this DIY Cocktail guide, which is currently free as I write this. Chapter 5 is titled Liquor makes a friend. Why yes. Yes it does.
For those of you who have been unable to participate in one of FYA’s pen pal matchups, The Hairpin is organizing their own. Their matching process is certainly, cough, less scientific than our own, but it will do in a pinch. You can start by sending them these St. Jordan Catalano greeting cards.
Game of Thrones fans might enjoy A Feast of Ice and Fire: The Official Game of Thrones Companion Cookbook, which came out earlier this week. The fact that George R.R. wrote the introduction should be all the endorsement you need, but if not, you can check out the authors’ blog, The Inn at the Crossroads. Mmmm, tasty.
For those of you whose reading tastes occasionally run a bit more mature, you should check out Vaginal Fantasy, the internet book club run by Felicia Day and three other ladies of various internet geek pedigree. Once a month these ladies get together a record a google hangout of themselves discussing various sexy romance novels (usually of the paranormal, fantasy or sci-fi variety), often with alcohol in tow. And if you don’t know who Felicia Day is, then go watch The Guild this second. And watch them all. I can wait.
Remember that time I told you to watch The Legend of Korra? Did you do it? Yes? Good, I love you, let’s be best friends. No? I hate you. But you can make it up to me. All of the series episodes so far are available to watch (for a limited time) on the Nickelodeon website. So get on that!
And last but not least (not sure how I missed this when it first came out), Cardboard Peeta Does Things.
Anything else we should be aware of? Leave them in the comments!
