Cover Story: The Thing About the Truth

Mondays are for waking up late, mainlining coffee and making snap judgements about books we haven't read yet.  Let's judge The Thing About the Truth by its cover, shall we?

Cover Story: The Thing About the Truth

Good morning, FYAers!  It's Monday morning, which actually means it's Sunday evening for me.  Which means I'm wasting time on Pinterest while watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians.  Let's count the ways in which Kris emasculates Bruce this week!

Because Mondays universally suck sideways, we like to put the least amount of effort into our critical thinking.  Therefore, it's time to judge a new book by its cover!  This week?  The Thing About the Truth, by Lauren Barnholdt.  What could this book be about?

The Thing About the Truth: A Totally True Summary by Erin

Zane is popular, smart and has everything going for him.  Especiallly since he started dating Harmony, the new girl in school.  Zane's friends and family warn him away from Harmony, saying that she's a bad influence, but Zane won't listen.  He knows that Harmony is special.

But it isn't long until Harmony starts frightening even Zane with her odd behavior.  At first, Zane blames himself.  Surely Harmony's vacant stare is due to Zane's piss poor conversation skills . . . right?  And the time he caught her tearing the flesh off Coach Thompson with her teeth was due to that crazy night of bath salts . . . yes?  Harmony couldn't actually be a flesh-eating zombie . . . could she?

Before Zane knows it, he's fighting for his life.   But even though he knows that Harmony's bad news, he can't help but ask her out for a bite . . .

(We'll be reviewing The Thing About the Truth, which I keep mentally calling The Truth About Forever, in a few weeks!  We'll see if it's actually about a zombie then!)

(P.S. Currently Kris is refusing to represent Bruce's son Brandon and his band Brandon and Leah.  Bruce has come in to show Babyface a music video.  Babyface and Kris Jenner have a music managing business together now, by the way.  So feel free to buy your 90s self a hot fudge sundae and give her a bracing hug at this news.)

Erin Callahan's photo About the Author: Erin is loud, foul-mouthed, an unrepentant lover of trashy movies and believes that champagne should be an every day drink. When she isn't drowning in a sea of engineers for whom Dilbert is still uproariously funny, she's writing about books, tv, the cult of VC Andrews and more.
