Procrastination Pro-Tips: Little Libraries, RPGs and More

Happy...(wait, what day is it again?)...Friday!  I keep forgetting it is Friday, because having a federal holiday in the middle of the week is unnatural.  Unnatural, I say!  And do you know what we do with unnatural things around here?  BURN THEM WITH FIRE.

These have been profiled before, but Little Libraries are popping up in the news again.  Which gave me an excuse to send my dad another email demanding he build me my own a little library.  I’m sure what will go well for me.

Want to make yourself a tasty cocktail?  Well, the NYTimes has created this handy dandy cocktail generator.  Now someone make me a drink!  Please and thanks!

Game of Thrones fan?  Love video games?  Then you will enjoy this video of Games of Thrones styled as a classic RPG.  Spoilers for season 1!

And here is season 2 as well!  King-slap bonus round!

This Sunday, July 8, Figment is hosting a chat with Justine Larbalestier and Sarah Rees Brennan about Team Human (check out Meghan's review). And the best part? It's moderated by Scott Westerfeld! Get all the deets here.

What would it be like to have a conversation with yourself?  One man was able to find out in the video below and the results are pretty spectacular.

What tips and tricks do you use to save money on your reading habit?  One woman gives her suggestions.  I would add library book sales to her church book sale suggestion.  And instead of BookMooch, I would tell everyone to skip the swapping sites (the shipping fees have begun to make them totally not worth it) and use Thriftbooks instead.  That site is the bomb no diggity.

And of course, the lovely FYA readers will back me up here, USE YOUR DERN’ PUBLIC LIBRARY.  Just TWO DAYS ago, I had to explain to someone that libraries had DVDs.  And that there were these “new fangled” online hold systems that ensure that the books you want come straight to your branch without any effort required on your part.  Head.  Desk.

And finally, in news that will make you question whether life is worth living, the lady who wrote 50 Shades of Grey is banking over ONE MILLION dollars...a WEEK.

Anything fun or interesting you’d like to share with us?  Please leave it in the comments!
