Book Cover Fashion Police: Menswear

Just because these cover dudes are cute doesn't mean that we can let them get away with their sartorial crimes.

Book Cover Fashion Police: Menswear

The Book Cover Fashion Police are back, and we're changing it up by investigating menswear. Cover dudes, you have the right to remain silent, but you might want to speak up and explain some of these sartorial choices...

Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

The YAYs- I love me some three piece suits!

The NAYs-  The suit seems a little matchy. Like, I'll bet even his socks match his tie! I'm also not a fan of patterned vests. Give me some solids and it won't matter how many pieces you have. The tailoring of the suit seems good in the body but what happened at the sleeves? Is it even possible to have that many wrinkles in your sleeve? And, even if it is possible, WHY WOULD YOU?

Destined by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast

The YAYs- Nice bod. I like a man who takes care of himself and who doesn't mind the use of a razor! A nice clean shaven chest and hair long enough to be bangs-- what a nice juxtaposition.

The NAYs- Uh, dude, from the sheen of the button up, it seems that you're possibly donning a faux leather shirt? Though the heaviness of the faux leather will keep you warm, I think that might cause some chafing on your very nice chest, so by all means, just take it off!

City Of Lost Souls by Cassandra Clare

The YAYs- I really do like guys in fitted vneck shirts. I think every guy should have this shirt in different solids, grey being a must have. He can wear this with jeans to a bar or the park with his dog and still be stylish and cool. Boys have it so easy!

The NAYs- The only time that you cannot get away with looking cool in a fitted tee is when you tuck it into your slacks (see book cover). He's such a cutie with his redhead, but alas, he's gone entirely monochrome with his GREY SLACKS and GREY SHIRT. A man can wear button ups or polos with slacks, not t-shirts tucked in.

Lola And The Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins

The YAYs- This guy is pretty cute. He's not the most stylish BUT I like that he's trying. The button up is a good color on him and fits him nicely. The brown pants are something a little different and a great piece on their own but with the colors of the button up, isn't the best thing in his closet. I give him points for trying.

The NAYs- What's the deal with his bracelet or are those hair ties? Men may have watches, belts, and MAYBE a necklace, but bracelets… I don't think so and certainly not with what he's wearing.

Though boys often times have it easier than women, they still have a long way to go in their book cover style. I mean, what's wrong with a guy in some jeans? Our standards for men's fashion are pretty low, and it seems the publishers' are even lower! Looks like we'll have to break out our (stylishly bedazzled) handcuffs...
