Procrastination Pro-Tips: Hocus Pocus, Lisa Frank and More

Last week I was bemoaning that nothing funny came out of the Vice Presidential debate.  Well, thank goodness for Mittens, because the man does not disappoint and brought us Binders Full of Women, the meme to end all memes.  Bless the internet.  But let’s check out what’s going on in the rest of the internet this week, shall we?

Book Related Things

A while back, Scholastic came out with a virtual Harry Potter reading club, which is mostly for educators and children.  But they currently have up a recent webcast with J.K. Rowling, in which she answers questions from readers, so check it out!  Speaking of J.K., did you know she doesn’t read fantasy or science fiction?  I...don’t even know how to process that news.  At least she loves Lizzy Bennett?

Middle Earth: sausage fest of the fantasy worlds. Hahaha, just kidding, most fantasy worlds are sausage fests.

Movie Related Things

The teaser trailer for the new Carrie remake was released this week.  What do you all think?  Not something I think needing remaking (then again, I never think that of anything) but I do love Chloe Moretz.

And if you didn’t see it when it come out, here is the trailer for Aubrey Plaza in The To Do List.  I can’t tell if this will be funny or just uncomfortable.  Your thoughts?

The internet is waxing nostalgic about Hocus Pocus this week.  The Hairpin looks back at the movie and Buzzfeed looks at 23 reasons why it’s the best Halloween movie.  (And, cough cough, one time I wrote a post on it too.)

TV Related Things

Who else cannot WAIT to see the Firefly 10-Year Reunion Special.  Science Channel...November 11th...set your DVRs!

Speaking of our dark master Joss Whedon, new information on the S.H.I.E.L.D. tv show.  Coulson lives!

A Twilight spin-off tv series?  Well, I guarantee you if that happens, we’ll recap it.

Miscellaneous Things

HOLY CRAP, Lisa Frank video interview, including an inside look at her headquarters!!  HOW DO I GET A TOUR OF THAT VAULT??

If you’re looking for a laugh today, check out Fairy Tales for Twenty-Somethings.

Best flowchart of the week: should you get back together?  Let Taylor Swift help you decide.

Vulture had a weeklong event in which they took a look at fandom, and there are some great reads in there (especially the profiles on the influential fans).  Also, they ranked what they consider to be the 25 most devoted fan bases.  What do you think?  I have some quibbles with the order, but I do feel like they covered most of the major ones I would consider.

That’s all I’ve got for this week, but please share your favorite internet reads or videos in the comments below!
