Teen Movie Madness: The Freddie Prinze, Jr. Bracket (Week Two)

It's Week Two of the Freddie Prinze, Jr. bracket! Will your favourites survive another week?

Teen Movie Madness: The Freddie Prinze, Jr. Bracket (Week Two)

Welcome back to the Freddie Prinze, Jr. bracket! Last week, y'all got rid of Get Over It and 21 Jump Street, and yet Say Anything gets to stick around. So don't do it again! Not just 'cause you literally can't re-eliminate those movies (and why would you want to!? Wasn't once enough?!). What I'm trying to say is: we need to talk about Lloyd. But I'm getting ahead of myself.

Here's a link to the Freddie Prinze, Jr. interactive PDF bracket, which has more pretty pictures (yay!) but 50% less movies and 50% less Channing Tatum. Behold!

Apologies to all those hoping for an all-Heckerling, all-'80s, or a Weird Science/Cruel Intentions* showdown -- this week's first matchup is brought to you by (ex-)stepsibling quasi-incest! The only real suspense is whether or not Cruel Intentions can muster more votes than Weird Science did. (It's like a bracket within a bracket! Inception!)

*But seriously. Does this subset exist? If only I could Venn diagram that shizz.

So Lloyd Dobbler doesn't inspire as much hatred in me as it does in other members of the Teen Movie Madness committee. But when I first saw Say Anything, I was so underwhelmed. ("Uhhh is this it? Am I supposed to swoon now? My God, her neighbours are a tolerant bunch; she's not feuding with a dog like I am.")

But! It's going up against The Outsiders and omigod why did I expend vote-garnering tactics against Carrie when Say Anything was the real danger all along!? As much as it pains me to admit it, y'all are choosing Lloyd Dobbler over the Greasers, AREN'T YOU!? Sigh.

I really should just let the democratic process unfold naturally, but I'm actually showing a great amount of scruples just a singular scruple by limiting myself to one gratuitous Outsiders photo. So OBVS I chose one that you won't be able to stop looking at:

In retrospect, I kind of wish I did some shameless lobbying for Brick or Get Over It. Because this matchup BORES ME. I mean, it's interesting in that these movies are really different, so I have no idea what'll happen. But there's a lack of voting angst, no? (Which is sort of a relief. 'Cause have you seen some of the matchups in the other brackets? Shiiiiit.)

I also don't really care about the outcome of this matchup, but for the exactly opposite reason: these movies are both awesome! You're both winners! Well, except for the loser. But there's no shame in losing to a worthy foe*!

*Unlike -- oh, I don't know -- Say Anything? And bonus: if Say Anything loses, I'll stop complaining about it! (See?? We're all winners!)

Polls close this Saturday at midnight CDT, with results posted on Sunday. So choose wisely, and show your support in the comments!
