Welcome to beautiful Pittsburgh -- home of #YASummerShowdown participants, FYA PIttsburgh! Today, they're here to meet us in Saturday morning detention...
Dear FYA Summer Showdown Judge Judys:
We accept the fact that we have spent the past three years in literary heaven for having found a group that has a shared love of books and booze, but it’s silly for you to make us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as a group of women who like YA books. In the broadest terms with the most convenient definitions. We meet for book clubs twice a month. We see movies together and go to midnight showings. We have sleepovers and take trips to New York, visit libraries and go to author signings and events. We go on bike rides together, volunteer, and do 5Ks side by side.
But what we found out is that each of us is a traveler, a blogger, a cheerleader, a lawyer, a maker of things, a comedienne, a contemporary YA expert, an artist, a rock climber, a SAHM, a librarian, a balloon twister, a smart aleck, a cyclist, a dancer, a gardener, a coder, a teacher, a runner, and a former manic pixie dream girl. We are nerds wrapped in shiny paper. Does that answer your question?
P.P.S. Little Lord FYA isn't sure if he counts as a member because he can't read. But he has attended two meetings in the past and LOVED playing Anthony Michael Hall's role of Brian Johnson during our Breakfast Club photoshoot.
