Dancing the Summer Away

Unlovely, Celeste Conway’s novel about a townie who falls for a ballerina, gets points for reminds Mandy C. of Center Stage, but loses some for the flat climax (and lack of “Rollercoaster of Love”).

Dancing the Summer Away

Talky Talk: He Said
Bonus Factor: Dance School

Unlovely had a lot of promise—I mean, y’all know how fond we at FYA are of dance movies/shows/etc.—but our date didn’t really get past the “nice” stage.

Mandy Curtis's photo About the Author: Mandy is a small town girl living in a nerdy world, or—if you want to get literal—an editor/writer living in Austin, TX. In addition to yearning for YA books—the more dystopian or fantastical, the better—she can also be found swooning over superheroes, dreaming of The Doctor and grinning at GIFs.
