YA Movie News Roundup: Nancy Drew Heads To The Small Screen!

Welcome back to the YA Movie News Roundup! Thanks to Mandy Wan for covering for me last week. To the links!

CBS is developing a TV series starring our favorite strawberry blonde detective Nancy Drew:

Former Grey's Anatomy executive producers Joan Rater and Tony Phelan are co-writing and will produce it alongside Dan Jinks, a producer on American Beauty.

Fantasy casting time! I choo-choo-choose Indiana Evans.

The final Mockingjay Part 2 poster is here. I super dig it:

This news is a few weeks old, but I just saw it: Joey King (who is great) and Charlie Plummer (probably great?) are co-starring in Catherine Hardwicke's adaptation of Jerry Spinelli's best-selling YA novel Stargirl

First published in 2000, the critically-acclaimed STARGIRL tells the story of a homeschooled teenage girl who enrolls in an Arizona high school, altering the ecosystem of the student body with her effortless nonconformity, capturing the heart of a star-struck boy named Leo.

Chaos Walking trilogy author Patrick Ness is tackling a YA adaptation of Doctor Who for BBC! Pretty major news in both the YA and Who worlds.

Less major news, but perennially reported nevertheless, is that Stephenie Meyer is re-writing Twilight for its tenth anniversary, gender-swapping the roles to prove that Bella (now Beau) isn't a damsel in distress but instead a "human in distress," and that Edward (now Edyth) isn't a creepy Svengali stalker so much as a...something else. I'm sure they'll make a movie of this garbage, so gird thyself.

And finally, yesterday was the fifteenth anniversary of the premiere of Gilmore Girls, and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and star Lauren Graham had some choice words on the occasion.

That's it for this week - give us your thoughts downstairs!
