Welcome to beautiful Winnipeg, whose FYA Book Clubbers are here today to tell us a little more about themselves.

Which club are y’all from?

Winnipeg, Manitoba (find them on Facebook here)

When did your club get started?

November of 2015 – We’re just about to celebrate our one year anniversary!

Where is your club’s fave hangout?

We’re usually found discussing the month's pick and everything else at Joe Black Coffee Bar, which is a cute little coffee shop with a very Friends-like vibe right across from the city’s main park.

What has been your club’s favourite book club pick so far? What did y’all like about it?

Our favourite pick so far has been An Ember in the Ashes. What we loved: The universe, the magic, the action, and of course, Elias.

Which FYA book club selection has been the most divisive? What separated the people who loved it from the people who hated it?

The Royal We. Two of us LOOOOVED it. One of us didn’t enjoy it at all. Those of us who enjoyed it loved the swoon, the story, and the characters’ journeys. The member who didn’t enjoy it just felt that it wasn’t what she expected it to be.

If you could have any YA author visit your club, who would it be and what's the number one question you would ask him/her?

We were divided on this one – Two of us went with Sarah J. Maas, one of us suggested Stephanie Perkins. Frankly though, we’d all be happy with either option!

Our number one question for Sarah J. Maas would be "What do I need to get me through the next book in the Throne of Glass series?", as we’re trying to decide if we should start stocking up on Kleenex and alcohol now.

With Stephanie Perkins, we’re dying to know if she’s planning to write more contemporary books like Anna, Lola, and Isla in the near future.

What kind of extracurricular activities has your club participated in?

We’ve only gone on two outings so far. Our first outing was to what is now referred to as the ‘Harry Potter-less Party’ (long story) to celebrate the release of The Cursed Child, and recently went to see Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

Tell us about the best field trip your club has been on!

We’ve got to give this one to our movie outing. We all enjoyed the movie and we weren’t stuck in a field with 15,000 other people which was a definite bonus.

What’s the best part about being in a FYA book club?

We were all agreed on this one – meeting new people, finding people with the same taste in books/movies/TV shows, getting a chance to read new things we might not otherwise have picked up, and having people to gush about books and shows with!

We’re a small club and would love to get some new faces joining us, so if you’re in the Winnipeg area, hit us up!!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Winnipeg FYABC! Check out their Facebook group here.
