YA Onscreen: R.I.P. Bill Paxton

We say goodbye to our favorite philandering stormchaser, plus we learn what new roles our former TV favorites have landed.

YA Onscreen: R.I.P. Bill Paxton

Welcome to this week's YA Onscreen. My newsfeed has been nothing but Oscar news and Envelopegate write-ups for the last two days, so let's see what else is going on in the world.

I'm going to level with you guys: one of my favorite movies of all-time is Twister. (It's gloriously cheesy fun.) So I was genuinely saddened by the news of Bill Paxton's untimely death. The internet is full of tributes, including one listing 13 of his best performances (his pants-wetting role in True Lies is, for me, a classic).

Matt Czuchry is trading in his suits (in which he looked damn good) for a set of scrubs in the upcoming Fox pilot, The Resident.

Where are my Hart of Dixie fans?! Lavon Hayes Cress Williams is going to be the titular character in CW's Black Lightning. No word yet on when this will premiere.

Could we be seeing Lauren Graham back on our TV screens this fall? She's landed the lead role in new Fox comedy,  Linda From HR.

Jason Katims of Parenthood and Friday Night Lights fame has cast Moana's Auli'i Cravalho in his upcoming NBC pilot, Drama High

A sweet note from the man taking over Chewbacca's hairy feet:

Meredith tells us why Sweet/Vicious is essential viewing.

It's been a decade since the end of The O.C. (check out our rewatch project!) and Autumn Reeser is commenting on that ambiguous ending for Taylor and Ryan. (I don't even need to read it. Clearly they are still adorably happy and driving each other crazy, even today, and you CAN'T TELL ME ANY DIFFERENT.)

New Doctor Who companion trailer has her going gaga over "the most dangerous man in the universe":

The Mystery Science Theater 3000 reboot has a preimere date (April 14) and a cast photo (adorbs).

Will we finally find out what happened to Nymeria this season of Game of Thrones?

Filming has started on sequel Jurassic World 2:

Logan review about the Marvel comic book movie for people who hate Marvel comic book movies (try saying that five times fast).

Even more vague Twin Peaks teasers. I won't even bother linking the actual videos because they show you nothing.

The franchise that never dies is back and this time the gang is going to Cuba:

Director Hayao Miyazaki is coming out of retirement to film one more feature for Studio Ghibli. No word on what it will be about just yet.

Patrick Stewart says he's done playing Professor X.

J.K. Rowling gives us one beast of a tease:

And one final Kong: Skull Island trailer before its release on March 10:

That's it for the week! You can still talk about the Oscars down below, if you want. That Best Picture flub was pretty epic.
