Teen BFF Madness: Sweet Sixteen Results

Our original 32 contenders—and us, the voters, natch—have shed blood, sweat and tears over the past couple of weeks, vying for a spot in the Championship. But only eight of the worthiest BFFs have made it this far. Let’s look at the last week’s results.

The top winners of the week were Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Scoobies, who slayed Riverdale’s Betty and Veronica with 83.6% of the vote.

Other big(ish—things are getting closer with each round) winners of the week were The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’s Bee, Libby, Carmen and Tibby, who beat The Princess Diaries’s Mia and Lilly with 73.11%, and Harry Potter’s Harry, Hermione and Ron, who won over Veronica Mars’s Veronica and Wallace with 65.49%.

Round of applause for these BFFs for a job well-attempted:

The closest race of the week once again featured Blue and her Raven Boys: The Raven Cycle’s Gansey, Ronan, Adam, Noah and Blue garnered 51.66% of the vote, while Friday Night Lights’s Matt and Landry got 48.34%.

Here’s where the main bracket stands now:

(1) Gansey/Ronan/Adam/Noah/Blue (The Raven Cycle) vs. (3) Rory/Lane (Gilmore Girls)

(1) Harry/Hermione/Ron (Harry Potter) vs. (2) Anne/Diana (Anne of Green Gables)

(1) Buffy/Willow/Xander (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) vs. (3) Bee/Carmen/Lena/Tibby (The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants)

(5) Angela/Rayann/Rickie (My So-Called Life) vs. (3) Sam/Neal/Bill (Freaks and Geeks)

Checking in with the reader leaderboard: Moja had the highest number of accurate picks, with Amanda M., Emily B., Elena G. and Tracy G. all coming in second. And here’s where FYA HQ stands:

1. Posh, Mandy W. and Alexis
2. Jennie and Rosemary
3. Stephanie
4. Mandy C.
5. Amanda R.

Do you still have a horse in this race? (I made some seriously questionable choices while predicting my bracket, apparently …) Head to the comments to discuss!
