Welcome back to YA Onscreen! I'll be leaving you for a few weeks while I am off on vacay, but never fear! The links will always be there for you, even if I won't be.
The CW has cast Ben J. Pierce as the lead in Glamorous, a show from Eva Longoria that focuses on Marco, a gender non-conforming character whose YouTube beauty blog rant about a line of cosmetics lands them an internship with the cosmetic line’s founder, played by Brooke Shields.
I feel like it will surprise no one that Celine Dion has not one but two biopics coming out in the next few years. Go big or go home.
Another trailer for Detective Pikachu has come out. It’s still kind of cute looking? Will you see it?
Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone looks kind of cool, buuuut only if you have CBS All Access:
Witness the reimagining of the most iconic series of all time, hosted by Academy Award® winner @JordanPeele.#TheTwilightZone premieres April 1, only on @CBSAllAccess: https://t.co/2CmHhdwTm8 pic.twitter.com/LiQv0WP2nG— The Twilight Zone (@TheTwilightZone) February 21, 2019
Another predictable Diane Keaton movie, but this looks cuter than Book Club:
Emma Thompson announced that she was dropping out of a movie she’s been filming with Skydance Animations because they decided to hire John Lasseter who has been plagued by multiple counts of sexual misconduct. Her team just released the full letter she wrote the studio and it is a mic-drop letter if I ever read one. Emma ponders a question I’m sure we’d all like answered: “If a man has been touching women inappropriately for decades, why would a woman want to work for him if the only reason he’s not touching them inappropriately now is that it says in his contract that he must behave “professionally”?”
It’s the barest of trailer teases, but I got irrationally excited about this adaptation. PLEASE be better than the other one we shall not discuss.
Did you watch the Oscars? No? Me either. Here’s a few highlights if you care.
Teen Queen hopeful Brittany Snow is going to star in a remake of an Australian show, Sisters, that will be helmed by Annie Weisman and Jason Katims. I assume it will be a drama, and I assume it will make us want to cry at least once an episode.
There was a bit of a One Tree Hill reunion a few days ago at a benefit concert hosted in the warehouse that was the set for the show’s club, Tric. I’m still midway through my first watch of the series on Hulu and it’s weird to see everyone in their thirties.
Things got silly by the end of the night! Big love to my cast mates and lifelong friends. Coming home to you is always such a joy. Thanks to @fwbcharityevents for bringing us all back together! @sophiabush @bryangreenberg @katevoegele @tylerhilton @antwontanner2214 and a huge thanks to Det. Steve Rice for keeping me in line today!! #friendsforlife
