Welcome to June! The vibe so far is chaos but happy Pride Month bbs.
ICYMI on FYA
The June FYA book club selection is Julie Leong’s The Teller of Small Fortunes, which is a rare non-YA pick. (I know, but trust us.)
Meredith B. covered the penultimate episode of season 3 in our Friday Night Lights rewatch and the important question of “do the Panthers win State??”
In this week’s Stream It, Mandy W. chatted about season 1 of Overcompensating, a show about college students who are played by actors who don’t look like college students, as usual.
In book reviews:
- Regina reviewed Lady’s Knight by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner, a book with (secret) lady knights and dragons and more!
- Mandy C. reviewed All-Nighter by Cecilia Vinesse, a delightful enemies-to-lovers rom com.
Book-Related Things
Y’ALL. Pizza Hut is bringing back its Book It program (albeit in an app since, you know, this is 2025 and not my childhood years). Childhood me loved getting personal pan pizzas for reading books I probably would’ve been reading anyway tbh.
Paramount acquired rights to Rebecca Ross’ Divine Rivals adaptation, which also happens to be a previous FYA book club selection.
Onscreen Things
Nicholas Hoult talks about looking at previous Lex Luthors for his turn in the role in next month’s (!!) Superman.
Sinners puts the truth on screen for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Nobody Wants This season 2 has a premiere date, and I am ready for that press tour to begin now, thanks.
The Gen V trailer for season 2 is out, and we only have a few months before the premiere!
I suspect I’m going to cry so much at the last Downton Abbey movie (RIP Dame Maggie Smith), and I am okay with that.
First, we watch (and cry over) the trailer for Wicked: For Good (AKA Wicked part two).
Then, we read the director, Jon Chu, talk about adapting that darker second half of Wicked.
