Luckily, Sam meets two brothers who run a comic book shop and may just have the answers he’s looking for.

Dianne Wiest just elevates everything and is one of the truly great movie moms.
Kiefer Sutherland as David
Oh, beautiful, young, mulleted, Kiefer. He (and the lighting designer) are so great at making David vacillate between angelic and menacing.
Jami Gertz as Star
Star is the love (triangle) interest. But Jami’s amazing 80’s hair tries to steal this movie away from Kiefer’s mullet.
Corey Feldman as Edgar
Feldman definitely has to be the less glam Corey in this movie. But he does possess some monster killing know-how.
Edward Herrmann as Max
Max gives Lucy a job and is definitely interested in something more. And I am definitely never getting over Ed Herrmann.
Couch-Sharing Capability: Snuggle Up
Hey, this movie is scary! And I’m not just talking about ten-year-old me at a sleepover. The creepy elements definitely still hold up. The take-out scene alone is why I have still never eaten lo mein. Share it with someone who can protect you from the monsters. If that’s half a dozen of your besties, some popcorn, pillows, and crimping irons, all the better.
Recommended Level of Inebriation: Beach Party
To stay on theme, you’re really going to need red wine. But DO NOT decant. Never accept wine that’s not served from its original bottle. Just trust me on this.
Use of Your Streaming Subscription: Vampires, yay!
The Lost Boys is just required viewing if you love vampires, the ‘80’s, and just awesome things in general. How can you not be delighted by a fashion time capsule like this one (I mean, Star’s sweet boho style alone)? And the hair. Oh my god, so many mullets. 1987 was really such a gift. But there are some genuinely decent performances that save this movie from being just kitschy fun. So bust out your best 1987 scary slumber party stories, and make a night of it!
