Spoiler Alert: This is the sixth book in the Blue Bloods series.  Click for my reviews of the first four books, and book five, Misguided Angel.

Cover Story: Feathers!!!

I don’t like them! They’re full of germs! And rate high on my list of things that ick me out!  Because they actually carry diseases!!!  So no, weird half-face lady, they don’t belong in hugs!

The Deal

Jack and Schuyler are now married and still searching for the gate of whatever it is, Mimi and Oliver are getting ready to go to hell to find Kingsley Martin, and SOMETHING is happening in the underworld.

BFF Charm: NAY!!!

BFF Charm that says "denied"

What happened, you guys? When we met, I thought you were all so cool and was just excited that you invited me to sit with you in the caf. Sure there were times when I was annoyed with some of you, but at least, you, Mimi, were a constant! Now… I just don’t know. I think I need some space for while.

Except from Oliver. Oliver, seriously, dude. Let’s hang out by ourselves, okay?

Swoonworthy Scale: 5?

I still felt a few degrees of epicness from the love stories in this book — but they’re from mostly Mimi and Kingsley. My problem with Jack and Schuyler is that they got married (in a short story I didn’t read) and then it seems like they turned into a couple of olds from long ago, calling each other “My love” and speaking in a manner that seems incredibly formal and foreign to the way they used to speak. I mean, maybe I just never noticed it before?

Talky Talk: I’m Confused

Along the same lines as Jack and Schuyler’s voices changing, it seems the author’s general tone and story-telling has changed to a much more old-fashioned romance-type, as opposed to the snappy, modern one I was used to. Now, I’m all for following an author through to the conclusion they have set in mind, and just going with the flow in general, so perhaps there’s a point? Either way, as many problems as I had with this book, I know I’ll probably read the next one, because damned if I don’t still want to know what happens.

Bonus Factor: Back Story

What with my issues regarding Jack and Schuyler and Mimi, one of my favorite things about this book was learning a lot more about Allegra (Gabrielle?) and Charles (Michael?). Even though I can never keep the angel names straight from their current names and spend a fair amount of time thinking, wait WHO is this, now?

Relationship Status: You’ve Changed

You’ve changed, you’ve forgotten the words, “I love you,” each memory that we’ve shared. You ignore every star above you, I can’t realize you’ve ever cared.  You’ve changed, you’re not the angel I once knew*… but yes, I’ll still read the next one…
