As we look forward to what 2024 has in store for us, let’s take a look back at the year that was with your favourite posts of 2023!

10. Book Review of Hell Bent (Alex Stern #2) by Leigh Bardugo

Cover of Hell Bent, featuring a frightening white rabbit on a grey background

Quite shockingly, this is the first Bardugo appearance in our annual Top 10! Although she’s long since been in the Top 10 of our bookshelves and OUR HEARTS.

9. Introducing…FYA’s 2023 Reading Challenge!

In which we launched our first reading challenge! So awesome that it made the list, and thanks to all of y’all who went on the journey with us!

8. FYA Book Club Selection 2023.01: Scythe

The FYA Book Club makes an appearance with our discussion questions for Neal Shusterman’s Scythe!

7. Book Review for Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood

Cover of Love, Theoretically, featuring a brown-haired woman and a blonde man kissing in front of bookshelves

Love on the Brain was on 2022’s Top 10, and — I already apologize for committing this to digital text — y’all are still horny for Hazelwood!

6. The Official FYA Red, White & Royal Blue Movie Drinking Game

SPEAKING OF HORNY.* It’s the drinking game for the fantastic adaption of Casey McQuiston’s Red, White & Royal Blue!

*I could say this of a few upcoming entries too, so there’s clearly a theme.

5. Book Review for The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston

Cover of The Seven Year Slip, featuring the title on a yellow background surrounded by lemon tree branches

Another fave author makes the list — and there’s still another one coming!

4. Book Review of Happy Place by Emily Henry

Another year, another Emily Henry sighting! She topped the list for 2022’s Top 10 with Book Lovers, so it’s no surprise that Happy Place . (It was also on our 2023 FYA Faves!)

3. Book Review of Fourth Wing (The Empyrean #1) by Rebecca Yarros

Cover of Fourth Wing, featuring the title in front of a circle of clouds around a sun, and two dragons, one black and one white

If you had to pick only one definitive book of 2023 (although I don’t know why you’d do that to yourself, since we definitely don’t for our 2023 faves list), Fourth Wing would have to be a top contender. This book was EVERYWHERE — including our Top 10!

2. The 100 Best Young Adult Books of the 2000s

A list literally years in the making*, FYA HQ agonized over our picks for what would be Rosemary’s final post.

*Our spreadsheet was created in January 2022 and the post was published in July 2023, but the idea had been kicking around as far back as our 2021 hiatus, I believe.

1. The Official FYA Barbie Drinking Game

OF COURSE. What can’t this Barbie do?!

Did your fave post make the list? What would you like to see more of in 2024? Let us know in the comments!
