Happy Friday. It’s only the second week of the new year, and I’m already tired. (But, really, who am I kidding? I’m always tired. Life, right?)
ICYMI on FYA
Mandy W. posted the FYA Book Club picks that resonated most with members of our Book Clubs in 2021, and Stephanie shared her thoughts on the first season of We Are Lady Parts, a show that’s perfect for viewing with your besties (safely, of course).
And have you read this week’s Book Reports?
- Brian went old school with The Hiding Place, a memoir from Nazi resister Corrie ten Boom.
- Stephanie reviewed Dream Lie Beneath by Rebecca Ross, a fantasy that—unfortunately—didn’t get deep enough.
- Sarah got steamy with I Love You, I Hate You by Elizabeth Davis, a romance that features both enemistry and shades of You’ve Got Mail.
- And I doubled up with the second installment of Claudia Gray and Eric Zawadzki’s House of El graphic novel series, The Enemy Delusion, which fell prey to the Bridge Book Blues, and Leslie Vedder’s The Bone Spindle, an action-adventure-fantasy that hit all the right notes.
Book-Related Things
This is pretty gorgeous (and totally something Ronan would get, amirite?).
TikTok makes me feel old, but I do appreciate it—and the fact that it’s driving book sales is pretty great. (Be sure to check out our “Hot on BookTok” section on our Books page!)
Resolution to the case of the stolen unpublished book manuscripts.
Onscreen Things
These additions to the Shadow and Bone season 2 cast are spot-on. (As Mandy W. said about the news: “AWWWW SHIZZ.”)
“Yellowjackets is prestige Pretty Little Liars. Hear me out.” (Have you read Sarah’s post about why you should be watching this show?)
And, “Yes, the Yellowjackets Cast Is Obsessing About the Show Just Like the Rest of Us.”
Of all the things going on in this trailer, we can’t get over Hot Geoffrey and Hot Uncle Phil the most.
Check out a first look at the adaptation of Jandy Nelson’s The Sky is Everywhere (and check out Sarah’s review of the book when you’re done.
Octavia Butler’s Kindred is being adapted for a TV series.
Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone is also getting a film adaptation. (Read my review of the book here.)
Multimedia Things
I would not put it past her, the queen.
I mean, it would be a pretty great crossover …
Speaking of Buffy …
Where’s the lie?
Twitter says it’s actually his twin, Scott Kelly, and not the astronaut/senator, but still amazing.
This romance author.
Accurate truths are accurate.
LEGEND.

Pretty sure we’ve heard this before, but obvi better coming from the source. (For more Bring it On, check out our Stream It post.)
Miscellaneous Things
If you need even more Yellowjackets in your life, you can listen to this playlist while you take this quiz to tell you which character you’re most like.
OK, this makes me sad: Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet split up.
